Pigmentation after pregnancy - how to treat it naturally

We have been asked by some of our clients how to address pigmentation that has appeared on their skin during pregnancy. This pigmentation is caused by the increase in melanin production in the body when pregnant. This natural pigment gives colour to our skin, hair and eyes. It is the hormonal changes during pregnancy that can lead to the blotchy areas of darkened skin commonly called the 'mask of pregnancy' - usually appearing around the nose, cheekbones, forehead and above your lips.

Generally the pigmentation will fade and disappear a few months after you have had your baby. Sometimes the changes don't disappear. If this is the case for you, and you have pigmentation from pregnancy on your face you would like to have evened out, we recommend Brighten Vit C Serum. Use it morning and night on your skin after cleansing and before moisturising.

This will not only help avoid pigmentation but also make skin look younger and glowing. be sure to get enough folic acid by taking a folic acid supplement and eating foods rich in folates (the natural form of folic acid), such as whole grains and leafy green vegetables. Research suggests that folic acid deficiencies may increase skin discolouration.
