Company Update: Synthesis Organics is launching a world-class HQ and organic manufacturing hub in 2023
We’ve got exciting news. We are building a world-class, half-a-million dollar skincare HQ in Byron Bay!
We are over the moon to announce that the NSW Government is supporting the development, providing A$460,000 in funding as part of the Regional Job Creation Fund.
We are going to use the funding to primarily establish a new headquarters as we scale our operations. As a result, we estimate that this will create 23 full time jobs while boosting the economy of our beautiful Northern Rivers region.
Development of the HQ had begun in Federal, on a property purchased specifically for the Synthesis Organics HQ, with an expected opening in April 2023.
WHAT WILL THE NEW HQ FEATURE?
Specifically, the funds will be used to establish a new multi-purpose company headquarters that will include a state-of-the-art lab, extraction and manufacture of botanical skin care, distribution, training, administration, and workshop facilities. The new premises will hold certification from Australian Certified Organic1, Therapeutic Goods Administration2 and be Good Manufacturing Practice3 approved.
The HQ will not only service Synthesis Organics; it will also be a contract manufacturing and development hub for small scale businesses and startups who require ACO1, TGA2 and GMP3 approved facilities for small batch product development, from testing bespoke formulations right through to ongoing production contracts.
SUPPORT FOR FELLOW ORGANIC PRODUCERS
By offering boutique, small-batch contract manufacturing opportunities, we hope to empower the local community of Northern NSW producers to continue developing world-class organic products.
“We are overjoyed to be able to help advance other passionate businesses through sharing these facilities. We believe in a community-over-competition mindset by supporting what others would call our direct competitors, because of the positive implications of consumers having access to a diverse range of high quality organic, sustainably sourced and ethically made products” - Synthesis Organics founder Theme Rains
Theme, who is the Australian Ambassador for Women's Entrepreneurship Day celebrated globally and at the United Nations, also plans to develop an entrepreneurial hub at the site with training, mentoring, and networking services for local business owners and entrepreneurs in the natural beauty, food, health, and wellness sectors.
BOOSTING THE REGIONAL ECONOMY
Member for Ballina, Tamara Smith MP, said that the development is expected to create 23 full-time jobs within the next three years as the company scales its manufacturing capacity to meet growing domestic and international demand for its products.
“The new facility will benefit local growers and suppliers by boosting production, and the training and workshop rooms will support a significant number of new jobs, traineeships and apprenticeships for local youth, all while establishing a presence for an internationally renowned skincare brand right here in Byron Shire.”
A total of four Northern NSW businesses have shared in $1.9 million of state government funding that will support the creation of up to 96 new jobs in the region. Mountain Blue Farm, Cymra Life Sciences and Cape Byron Distillery (home of Brookie’s Gin) have also been awarded the funding from the Regional Job Creation Fund to expand their operations and create new local jobs.
