Why choose Australian Certified Organic?

“If you are serious about wellness, you must choose certified organic ”
– Professor Marc Cohen (2016)

WHY CHOOSING CERTIFIED ORGANIC IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR HEALTH

With certified organic and whole food rapidly becoming the nutrition of choice by the health conscious amongst us, why would we accept any less for our skin? It is now common knowledge that over 60% of what we put onto our skin absorbed into our bloodstream, so what we apply to our skin topically requires just as much care as what we eat. To keep it simple, our philosophy is that skin care ingredients should be safe enough to ‘eat’. By igniting your body’s inherent healing capacity with the right kind of ‘food’ and not burdening it with toxins, the glow of good health and radiant beauty comes… naturally.

Your body deserves care that is guaranteed synthetic and chemical free – and so do you. With an estimated use of over two kilos of personal care products used individually every year, it becomes even more important to avoid the chemical cocktail that is so prevalent in our industry! The only way to ensure that you are nourishing yourself with truly natural products is to go Certified Organic – inside and out!

Other great reasons to support Organic:

Organic Farming
Working towards a cleaner environment and a sustainable future, Synthesis Organics is devoted to supporting nature and organic farming practices. By working in harmony with our natural resources, encouraging healthy soil and regenerative practices, organic farming is the foundation for healthier plants, people and animals. Not just for us, but for the farmers as well – they aren’t exposed to chemicals while they work, allowing them to lead a long and healthy life that leaves the environment unburdened by toxins.

Animal Welfare
Organic Standards ensure no cruelty to animals and humane conditions during all stages of the product lifecycle. Synthesis has gone one step further and has made a stand against animal cruelty everywhere. We are a preferred brand of the Choose Cruelty-Free not-for-profit organisation against animal testing and registered with the Vegan Society as a guarantee of using no animal products or by-products.

Better value for money
Quality over quantity! Although some organic ingredients cost more to produce, we find that they are much more potent. They also have a higher quality of smell and botanical benefit. Which means that while it might cost a little more to start, your products will last for much longer, as well as being significantly more beneficial. While it can be hard to make the switch, we promise that you will be seeing the incredible difference in no time!

Transparency and Accountability
Obtaining stringent third-party industry certification has been one of the foundational bases of our production to assure you that you are purchasing genuine organic products. We don’t think you should have to worry about hidden ‘nasties’ and so are happy to submit to the rigorous and extensive auditing process and allow total transparency about all our ingredients and formulas. Synthesis products are fully Certified to the Australian National Standard for Organic and Biodynamic Produce to ensure each ingredient is kept pure all the way from seed to the finished product you hold in your hand. Certified Organic ingredients and products must be grown, processed and stored without the use of synthetic chemicals, pesticides, fertilisers, nano particles or GMO’s.

What we leave out is as important as what we put in!

Synthesis products are guaranteed free of:

  • Petrochemical By-Products
  • Sulphates
  • Artificial Colourants & Fragrances
  • Fillers
  • Mineral Oils
  • Harsh Cosmetic Chemicals
  • Artificial Preservatives
  • Emulsifiers
  • Additives
  • Diction Phosphates
  • Animal Tested Ingredients
  • GMO’s
  • Tar Derivatives
  • Synthetic Chemicals
  • Detergents

Remember it is not Organic unless it is Certified Organic.

While many brands claim to be natural and organic, without certification there is no way to know for sure that chemicals haven’t been used in the growing and extraction of the ingredients, nor can we know for sure what % is organic or what the other % if made up of.

We all know the difference these days between a natural and an organic apple… the same goes for skincare. Natural no longer means it is free of artificial chemicals.

so, the only way to have the assurance of third-party auditing of organic % and traceability of ingredients is to choose a product certified by a reputable organisation.

But, not all but not all certification is created equal…

This table shows the varying requirements of different global organic certifiers, and what being certified by the ACO (Australian Certified Organic) guarantees about Synthesis products:

Organic Certification Comparison

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Independent, Government approved certification body
Many certification organisations have been formed by corporations or groups of cosmetic companies. Some are independent AND regulated by their countries government.

Free of Petrochemicals, Dioxins and SLS
Some certifiers allow these reported unsafe ingredients in their formulations.

Must contain over 70% Certified Organic Ingredients
Certifiers generally have a minimum percentage of certified organic ingredients that a product must contain for the brand to carry the Certifier’s logo. Some require as low as 10% Certified Organic content to bear a certification logo and label a brand as Certified Organic.

Ingredients must be 100% naturally derived
Certified organic does not equal natural in many cases. Many certifiers do not monitor the non-certified organic content in a product. Therefore you may be purchasing a brand where the non-certified content could contain a large percentage of synthetic substances. OFC and USDA do not allow any ingredients, in the brands they certify, that are not of natural origin.

Water or minerals can NOT be counted as Certified Organic Ingredients
Some certifiers count water separately. In some cases, water can count as part of the certified organic ingredients. This means that some products containing over 70% water could be certified as organic
