Funding will help create almost 100 new jobs in the region │ Northern Rivers Review

Four Northern Rivers businesses have shared in $1.9 million of state government funding that will support the creation of up to 96 new jobs in the region.

Mountain Blue Farm, Synthesis Organics, Cymra Life Sciences and Cape Byron Distillery were awarded the funding from the Regional Job Creation Fund to expand their operations and create new local jobs. Mountain Blue will receive $820,000 to expand its packing facility and purchase packing machines and export equipment that will enable fruit to be stored in modified atmosphere rooms to help meet the growing demand for its fresh blueberries.

"Mountain Blue Farm is one of the largest employers in the region and they are set to create 41 new jobs in addition to their 630 seasonal farm positions," said Nationals Member of the Legislative Council Ben Franklin, who announced the funding last week.

Synthesis Organics will receive $460,000 to establish a new headquarters encompassing manufacturing, training and distribution facilities in Mullumbimby. The new site will include a production space, essential oil distillery, dispatch facilities and training and workshop spaces. This will allow for the upscaling of production and training opportunities and create up to 23 full-time jobs within the next three years.

Cymra Life Sciences will receive $400,000 to help deliver their $1.1 million facility at Ballina which will produce medicinal cannabis. The expansion will provide up to 20 local and ongoing jobs once the project is completed.

Cape Byron Distillery will receive $240,000 to expand its production line and upgrade its lab facilities to meet growing local and international demand for their products, creating 12 new full-time jobs.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said the $100 million Regional Job Creation Fund is aiming to create at least 5000 new direct jobs in regional NSW by helping businesses expand their production lines and provide incentives for relocation to the bush. As published in:
